Doctor of Philosophy in Humanities, Master’s degree in Scientific and Technical Information, Bachelor’s degree in English. Lecturer, Head of the Part-time Studies Programme in the Library and Information Science Department of the University of Silesia, Poland.
Author of more than 20 publications, including English-Polish Dictionary of Library and Information Science (2009), which was awarded the Polish Librarians Association prize. Author of the software for creating end-of-work bibliography and bibliographic footnotes according to PN-ISO standards. Co-editor of the anthology of national codes of ethics: Library Codes of Ethics in the World (2008). Speaker at many national conferences and workshops. He spent two months in the USA, visiting and studying the organization of Los Angeles and San Francisco libraries. Currently teaches on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including library and information science terminology, information retrieval languages and knowledge organization.
Member of the Polish Association of Information Science and the International Society for Knowledge Organization. Main scientific interests: knowledge representation, library and information science terminology. Non-professional interests: methods of teaching and learning foreign languages. Author of the language web service www.isel.pl and the book English in Anecdotes by Wiedza Powszechna Publishing House (2011).
