Dahab Khalil gilt als eines der großen Talente nubischer Musik. Zunächst unbekannt, werden heute seine Lieder überall gesungen.

Anstatt die Schule zu besuchen, trieb er sich herum und war dort zu finden, wo Musik gespielt wurde. Er lernte das Leierspiel und trat damit auf Festen auf. Später erblindete Dahab. Diesem Schicksal fügte er sich. Seine Liebe und Leidenschaft am Musizieren und Singen verlor er aber bis zu seinem Tod nicht.

Das im Buch veröffentlichte Interview, sowie die CD, stellen die nubische Musik und deren Instrumente, wie die Leier (kisir / tanbūra) vor. Es vermittelt auch einen ganz privaten Einblick in die Vergangenheit und das Leben Dahabs.

Dahab Khalil is considered to be one of the greatest Nubian musicians. First unknown did he become increasingly popular in the run of his life. His songs are still presently sung everywhere.

Instead of going to school he was found wherever music could be heard. He learned to play the lyre and even performed during festivities. Later Dahab went blind. He accepted his fate, but did not lose the love and passion to play music and sing.
